In Sara Halprins review of The Color Purple she stated This movie house shows healing within the community. It shows a feeling of empowerment. I accept that most of the characters go through either healing or empowerment. He fell asunder because he was lonely, he fell apart because he didnt have anyone to control and to nag, and he fel l apart because he came to the realization that celie was really gone for good. He pretermit his crops, his provoke animals, his home and he neglected his health by dismission down to his sons bar getting drunk all the time. It wasnt until he recieved the letter in the mail from nettie that he fixed to channelize his outlook on what diversity of person he was and what kind of person he wanted to become. I hypothesise the aspect where mister decides to use the money he saves up to meet celie with her family was when mister experienced healing and empowerment. Nettie had a strong bond with her sis Celie. They served as eachothers backbone. When her older sister Celie is married off to mister she is left to play off herself against her father where she later leaves home to protect herself. When she arrives to stick to with celie and mister they both know that it will not be dour in the lead mister tries the exact thing that her father did.
